Microphones and Freedom

Holidays.

Mount Eerie- Through the Trees pt. 2

Also known as The Microphones.

Really not much going on today.  Going back to Atlanta to visit friends.  We're going to my friends cabin in North Georgia.  We're going to play Mario Party.  That's about it.

11:58

Almost forgot to post today.  Not that it's going to make a huge difference if I don't, but I do like the idea of being punctual.  I didn't do too much today, aside from play Mario Party with my roommate David.  We played 50 rounds.  I was Luigi, he was Peach.  I came in third.  Sad.

Didn't get too much done in regards to music today, but I hummed a few melodies into my little voice memos app on my iPhone.

I shaved a pretty disgusting beard off of my face today.  I like to tell myself it looks good, even though I know it doesn't.  Here is the beard I hope to one day have:

Today's song choice is from a band I heard of today called Unknown Mortal Orchestra.  Not sure how I feel about them at the moment, but one of my favorite musicians (Mac DeMarco) mentioned loving these guys.  Here's FFunny Friends off of their self titled debut.

Much love,

Weak Stomachs and Slow Jazz

Woke up earlier than usually due to a visit from my mother.  I certainly ate too much today; my mother took me to Metropolis Cafe (Greek food), where I then went to Blackbird Coffee and threw down a muffin and some coffe.  Afterwards I ate a dozen chicken wings at The Brick, and far too many mint M&Ms.  I should mention that I have a horribly weak stomach.  I've been throwing down this peppermint tea to help ease it.

Tea has been a huge aid ever since my stomach started becoming so lightweight.  This brand right here gets 5 stars from me.  But yeah, I've had stomach aches and pains for years.  It's never a good time.

As far as today's song choice, here's a track fro El-P and Killer Mike's new LP (ha), called Run the Jewels.  This one is called Banana Clipper, and it's got a dope feature from Big Boi (the dirty south side of OutKast).  Killer Mike hails from Atlanta, so I've got a bunch of extra love for this one.  El-P is, in my opinion, the best hip-hop producer out there right now.  This album is free, and can be found here.  (Thanks, Pitchfork).

Anyway, much love to everyone.

Lyrics, Antiques, and Weird Dreams

I read somewhere that people are more likely to have odd dreams if they sleep in colder conditions.  For whatever reason, that proved to be true last night.  I experienced a tattoo turning into a wristband and falling off a pool structure and breaking several bones.  Weird.

Woke up late and went to an antique store.  Found an old Huey Lewis & the News record called "Fore."  Only reason it made me glance twice was due to the mentioning of the group in "American Psycho."

"You like Huey Lewis and the News?"

Other than that, it's closing in on the evening and I've got a few ideas for the album that I need to get down before I lose them in my head.

Also, for those reading, I'll be doing a daily post of the music I'm currently into.  Here's a Japanese post-punk band, OGRE YOU ASSHOLE.  Don't mind the name.

Album Progress and New Places

Recently moved to the small town of Milledgeville, Georgia for college.  As it's summer, I'm living in a house here as opposed to the comfort of Atlanta (my hometown).  For the most part, I've been living alone, making music for an album I wish to release (hopefully) this year.

The reason for the moniker "Lamplighter" is due to the short story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry entitled The Little Prince.

The story reflects on the mundane aspects of aging, illuminated in this character.  His job is to light his planets lamp, despite his planet rotating x number of times per day.  It's his duty, but he never questions why he does what he does.

Pretty sentimental so I'll stop there with the cheesy stuff.  It's a good book, and I'd recommend.  I'd love for the album cover to look something like that...

Anyway.  The music is coming along fine.
Here's a look at what I have so far.  Finishing songs is the problem.  Ideas get clustered.  Working harder than I ever have before, though.
